T:mi Tehko perustettiin 1960
Levyseppä Martti Käki perusti T:mi Tehko nimisen yrityksen Varkaudessa vuonna 1960. Yhtiö toimi aluksi lähinnä paperiteollisuuden asennus- ja huoltotöissä. Vuonna 1962 Tehko solmi pitkäaikaisen teollisuustontin vuokrasopimuksen Kouvolan kaupungin kanssa. Kouvolan Teholan konepaja valmisti teollisuudelle tuotteita, jotka pintakäsiteltiin ja asennusosasto huolehti tuotteiden asennuksesta.
Vuonna 1972 palveluksessa oli jo n. 200 ammattimiestä ja T:mi Tehko muutettiin Tehko Oy:ksi. Kasvu oli kovaa ja Kouvolan konepajalla otettiin vuonna 1972 käyttöön sinkopuhallus- ja maalauslinja. 1970-luvun puolessa välissä valmistuneessa korkeassa 5000 m2 levyhallissa voitiin valmistaa ja liikutella jopa 40 tonnia painavia rakenteita. Vuonna 1977 valmistuivat moderni pinta- ja esikäsittelylaitos ja uudet sosiaalitilat.
Vuonna 1976 Martti Käki sairastui ja menehtyi. Tuula Käki ja toimiva johto jatkoivat hyvään vauhtiin päässyttä Tehko Oy:n toimintaa. Vuonna 1984 Tehko siirtyi uudelle omistajataholle.
Vanhassa levyhallissa hitsattiin vuonna 1972. Halli oli vielä pystyssä vuonna 2025.
